Marginal Notes is a body of work created by artist Fay Nicolson between 2011 - 2014. This series of images exist as c-type prints from 35mm film taken on an analogue camera. This body of work is being digitised so it can be seen in its entirety for the first time.
These images are a visual diary of forms and materials. A thread that connects ideas of play, improvisation, ephemerality. This series of works speaks of the relationship between an artist and their studio and the performative nature of activating materials within that heterotopian space. The images use a camera, an objective tool for documentary, to step from observation into abstraction.
